Jean Claude Agostini

Born in Paris, he attended the Fine Art Institute of Paris in 1963. Agostini's first "One Man Show" was in Casablanca in 1977. Since then, he has had many exhibitions in the most important galleries throughout the world: Paris, Tunis, Milan, Madrid, Koln, Lisbon, New York and many others.

Into Agostini's work there is an open condition to the mystery of magic. A kind of "Presence of the Absence", a winding metaphor. Material, sign and object are the three vital symbols, the three significant knots that structure the personal alphabet of Agostini. Reality that we have to read in key of a visceral, iconographical poetry. The material is, for Agostini, the blood. It becomes gesture and conflict; it is not the background for the image, but it is the character and image, at the same time. It reveals visions, ideas, secret meanings and suggests sensations. The Agostini work is a symbolic diary of sentiments.
