Walter Mocenni
Born in Pola, Yugoslavia in 1935, Mocenni studied and lived there until 1956 when he moved to Milan, via Florence, where he now lives and works.
As both sculptor and painter, Mocenni's early works are influenced by a post-impressionist language, which is already inclined to construct impulsions. In 1958, his works become graphic - dominated by vertical and horizontal lines with several incisive colors. After 1961, he gradually comes near to abstract sign, the color appears filtered and the forms structured and balanced. When looking at Mocenni's works, we understand that the passage from painting to sculpture is logical. The mutating is almost unavoidable. Mocenni controls perfectly the use of various materials and techniques.
Until now, Mocenni has had about 150 exhibitions around the world, including: Yugoslavia, Germany - Museum of Redvini, Museum di Labin, Museum Pola, Paris - Galerie D'Art Internation, Gran Palais de Paris, FIAC, Milan - Museum La Permanente, Barcelona - Premio Intrnacional Juan Miro, Art Expo New York, and more. He had received many prizes for his artistic work, which is present in the most important Private and Public Collections. |
