Petros

Born in Athens in 1928. he lives and works in Milan and Greece. In 1958, Petros won the Greek National Award for the Arts. After that, he spent three years in Urbino, attending the Art Institute and specializing in the Art of engraving using antique hand-press. Petros is one of the most eminent Contemporary Artists of Greece.
His first "One Man Show" was in 1958 in Perugia, Italy. The most significant of his exhibitions were in: Milan, Geneva, Turin, Athens, New York, Newport Museum of Virginia, International Art Biennale in Paris, Cairo, S. Paolo, Barcelona, Palazzo Strozzi - Firenze, Gallery Yolas - New York, Zarathustra- Milano, Salon d'Automne - Paris, and more.

Petros' paintings show themselves as metaphors of our human conditions, as reflected by the ceaseless, untiring dynamics of the unconscious psyche. Petros favors the language of symbols as he is fully aware of the incisive power, or better, the involving power symbols are endowed with in the sphere of communications.

The offspring of this reversed interpretation of myth is a metaphor on the condition of modern man. Petros' works do not stagnate on the boundaries of the social document. By virtue of the symbolic language through which they materialize , they soar into sphere of poetic creativity.
