Boyd and Evans

Both originally from England . Fionnula Boyd and Les Evans have been working together since 1968. The early 80's, marked the beginning of a remarkable output of paintings, drawings and photographic images. This Exhibition brings together a comprehensive series of recent works by the Artists, which have been influenced by their many journeys through the World and American Landscape. It is intriguing for two Artists to collaborate in such an intimate experience as applying paint to canvas or in the decision to release a camera shutter in a certain place at a certain moment in time. The imagery they evoke often is a collision between the epic and the banal; all create an incongruous sense of displacement. Boyd and Evans have had exhibitions all around the world in the most important Galleries and Museums. Their works are in many public collections such as: Arts Council of Great Britain, Belfast Museum, Bank of England, Cabinet of Estamps Geneva, Christie's Corporate Collection, HSBC, Metropolitan Museum of Art in NY, Museum of Modern Art NY, Milton Keynes Corporation and Hospital, reader's Digest, TATE Gallery – London, Royal Geographical Society, Syracuse University Museum and many, many others.

Artists Statement: “On the physical level I work with a lot of texture, bold colors, and sharp contrast in my paintings, due to the many spiritual and cultural influences in my life. I prefer the spontaneous abstract expression. My artistic expressions are intrinsic reflections of my life experiences. Each work is infused with my own inherent energy, a kind of spirit or Chi to bring some happiness and prosperity to the viewer”.
