Vanni Viviani

Born in Mantova, Italy in1937. Viviani currently lives and works in Milan.

After the first figurative period, in 1963, Viviani very actively started to participate in the North-Italian Avant Garde. He became a protagonist and a symbol of the Jung Artistic Currents. He later developed The Apple as his main character, teaming with signification. The critics said, "The Apple of Viviani has become a case, one event of the Italian painting of the Seventies…". In Viviani's opinion, the symbols are a vital and fertile act, the primary element of communication, for the ambivalence of the meaning that is transcendental by nature. "Ambiguity is perfection" - such discover populates Viviani's paintings with androgynous figures, with emblematic and mysterious. The apple is an androgynous symbol and hypothetical character.

Viviani opened his first "One Man Show" in 1962 in Bolzano. Since that time, he has been in public view in Galleries and Museums throughout the world. He has had hundreds of exhibitions in prestigious galleries and museums.
