Ella Flesh
Born in Arandelovac, Yugoslavia in 1955, Flesh studied painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Belgrade from 1974-1979. Flesh is a recipient of numerous awards for her work, such as University Award for mosaic, drawing and painting amoung others.
About her work, Flesh says "My mission is to perceive things as they are. I want to capture the air of light. There are so many different kinds of light - light, air and atmosphere are major ingredients of my work. I would like to forget everything and wake up facing the light that precedes the time."
The paintings of Ella Flesh, oils, pastels, Conte-crayons and gouaches, reaffirm the expressive independence of one particularly exacting technique without making use of any artifice, but on the contrary, emphasize great manual knowledge, derived from the mastery of the trade, full of poetic qualities.
